Figures published by the National Office of Statistics recently (13 Jan) suggest that while UK residents are staying at home, the number of visitors to the UK has increased over the past year (November 2009 - November 2010).
The number of UK residents choosing not to travel abroad over the period fell by 7% compared to the year before. This percentage represents a total of 4 million less trips abroad.
Visitors to the UK from Europe increased by 200,000 from 2 million
Visitors from North America fell by the same amount
However, visitors from the rest of the world rose from 4.2 million to 4.3 million.
By my (admittedly inexpert) calculations that is 4.1 million more potential holiday makers - do you think they will all want to glamp?!!
