A quiet, family run, family friendly campsite situated in a beautifully secluded corner of the National Park, a fantastic local pub within walking distance, superb scenery from the door of your yurt, a better location for your Lake District glamping holiday you will be hard pushed to find.

  • If you are in search of peace & tranquillity off the beaten track & away from the crowds then look no further, the Kestrel Lodge Campsite has all this and much more. Located just below Skiddaw in amongst the splendour of the northern fells & some of the best fell walking routes the Lake District has to offer. Tick nine Wainrights off without even getting in the car. Alternatively scan the skies for the family of Ospreys who live nearby or just sit back & enjoy being away from it all. What more could you ask for?

    A little further afield but just 15 minutes drive away are the towns of Keswick and Cockermouth. Packed full of shops, cafes, restaurants & all manner of other attractions there’s certainly something here for everyone. The site also boasts close proximity to six of the county’s lakes, ideal for spot of wild swimming, beautiful picnic spots, photography or just an opportunity to site & enjoying being in nature. Back at the site if you can drag your self away from the crackle of the open fire there’s a great local pub a short walk away where you can enjoy good food & fine local ales.

    Also available a short drive away are an array of outdoor activities. Why not try moonlit canoeing, stand up paddle boarding? Also available with our partners located in Keswick are all manner of Bushcraft experiences as well as some more traditional outdoor activities such as gorge scrambling, rock climbing or cycle hire. Adventure awaits, seize the day.

    The Kestrel Lodge site has three 18ft Yurts comfortably accommodating six persons per Yurt. A beautiful site proving a quiet retreat for families, friends and couples alike. Open Mar - Nov. Electric hook up also available.

  • Furnished with a distinctly Moroccan feel with woolen rugs, bright colourful throws, twinkling fairy lights, solar lighting and large skylight, our Yurts are cosy, comfortable and definitely different, guaranteed to make you feel completely relaxed and away from it all.

    Sit back, take a deep breath and relax. Feel the warmth of the wood burning stove, look up and let your eye be drawn up the roof poles, past the Moroccan lantern and through the large skylight where you will see the stars twinkling in the night sky…

    Modeled on the ornate Turkmen Yurt and made in the U.K. from light coloured ash sourced from sustainable woodlands our Yurts are extremely strong and are capable of withstanding anything the British weather can throw at them. The outside cover is made from a thick water tight poly cotton canvas. High enough so you don’t have to bend down when walking around and set on a raised wooden tongue and groove floor come and enjoy a back to nature holiday without compromising on the usual luxuries you would expect from you holiday.

  • If you can muster the energy to leave the comfort of the yurt and the slow relaxed pace of yurt living then the Kestrel Lodge site is ideally placed for an array of excursions both from the door of the yurt or a short drive away. It offers easy access to the northern fells and less visited but stunning beautiful north western part of the Lake District National Park.

    If you have come on holiday to get away into the fells and perhaps tick off some of the 214 ‘Wainrights’ then this is a god place to start. There are nine you can tick off from Kestrel Lodge without even getting in your car. Within a sort drive there is plenty to keep even the keenest of walkers occupied.

    A short drive from the site you will find the pretty market town of Keswick. A hub for tourists and an ideal spot to pick any camping or outdoor related items you may have left at home or treat yourself to that new Goretex jacket! In and around Keswick there’s something here for everyone from the indoor climbing wall, pitch and putt course, the launch on Derwent Water , the thrilling via ferrata at Honsiter Slate mine to the famous Pencil museum and the worlds largest pencil!
